In late February, our construction project reached a new milestone: the renovation of the cattery. Initially, the cranes focused on the outdoor courtyard. Only the walls of the cattery will be kept, while the rest will be completely enlarged and rebuilt.
The areas formerly occupied by the cats will be renovated and expanded to create a “care” space and a “quarantine” space.
The first, with an area of +/-85m², will include a service/disinfection room, two infirmaries, a recovery room with mobile cages, and a nursery to take care of the most fragile ones.
The second, twice as large, compliant with current legislation but designed to evolve along with it, will have 32 modular individual niches that can, if necessary, increase the capacity to accommodate 64 cats quarantined and cared for by our teams.
These spaces will be divided into three areas of different capacities (22, 16, and 4 niches) to allow the isolation of potentially contagious cats and thus protect other boarders under observation.
The area of the “cat” spaces will more than double after the works, approaching 500m²!
To allow for the renovation of these buildings, we temporarily relocated our cats to another space specially adapted for them. They are already adjusting well there!
