Last July, our animal care and adoption teams attended a specialized two-day training course on feline behavior.

The training was provided by cat behaviorist Charlotte Lambert, from www.psyanimalia.be, who designed it to better understand the needs and behaviors of cats, in order to offer them the best possible care at our shelter.

Charlotte Lambert is a psychologist, zootherapist and canine, feline and equine behaviorist. Her caring and respectful approach to cats is based on the importance of respecting their needs and their own communication.

During these two days, our carers were able to broaden and reinforce their knowledge of how to recognize and interpret the different behaviors of cats, whether related to their well-being, their stress, or their adaptation to a new environment.

Our aim is to improve the quality of life of the cats in our care, by promoting their comfort and serenity, to ensure a welcoming and suitable environment for all our animals.

But we also want to provide our adopters and prospective adopters with the best possible advice and guidance. Living with a cat “means cohabiting with another living being with its own needs and communications, which humans don’t always understand. By learning to observe cats and meet their needs, it’s possible to modify behaviors and (re)establish harmony within the household.”
