15 days ago, in the middle of the night, two Malinois dogs were tied up in the garden of a neighbour of our shelter in Anderlecht, rue des Papillons, and abandoned on the spot.
It was in the early hours of the morning that our distraught team discovered them: a female aged around 1 and a half years and a young male aged 7 months, River, probably her son. Both friendly, sociable and affectionate.

Abandoning them is not only cruel, it’s against the law. It is inconceivable that animals should be left to fend for themselves like this, without any guidance or protection. Abandoning an animal on the public highway in Brussels is considered a serious offence, tantamount to animal abuse. Penalties include fines of up to €2,000, or up to €5,000 in cases where abandoning an animal directly endangers its life. What’s more, prison sentences of between 1 and 3 months can also be imposed!
It’s impossible to trace their owners
Neither chipped nor identifiable, we have no information on the background of these two dogs. Naturally, we took them in, separating them to avoid an unwanted litter.

We named them River and Summer and today, 15 days after they were abandoned, they are up for adoption.
If you would like to give them a second chance, contact us on 📞02/527.10.50 or via 📩info@veeweyde.be to make an appointment 🙏🏼
These two Malinois with an endearing profile are separately adoptable and their profiles are on www.veeweyde.be.
