Why this need for harnesses?
Because we want to get our dogs used to wearing them during their outings in our parks and during our outings with them around the shelter.
The benefits?
- The anti-pull feature is useful and more comfortable, especially for our dogs, and practical for us. There is less tension on walks and a feeling of more freedom when we take them out.
- On walks, we attach the dogs to both the collar and harness for double security.
- No pressure on the trachea
- More comfort for the dogs
The news is that our teams of animal caregivers and volunteers have initiated new outings with our dogs: walks around the shelter, in a calm environment where they can encounter walkers, bicycles, and sometimes even cars.
These experiences are enriching for them, as most of them have been at the shelter for many months and have forgotten what outdoor life is like, with different stimuli and smells.
These outings are supervised by several caregivers and volunteers and proceed calmly so that these positive experiences are useful to our dogs and increase their chances of being adopted soon!
