Hello,
I’m sharing an adorable picture of Titus with the neighbors’ little ones. I’ve trained them over the last two years to behave ‘like grown-ups’ with the dog, I never leave them alone with Titus (I take Titus to the toilet if necessary) but it makes me delighted to know that Titus knows how to behave with the little ones (as you can see from his look, food remains a problem).
Lovely day,
Matthias
Hello,
I’m happy to give you some reassuring updates about Lady/Nicky: we had to rename her because Khali/Lady was causing confusion… especially for the two dogs because the similarities in sound were too much 😉
She’s doing great and has made tremendous progress over the past week: she’s using the pad for her bathroom needs, even though she’s free to roam in the garden but still comes inside to use the pad! We take her for walks regularly, and she’s already starting to walk beside us rather than pulling on the leash. She’s still just as cuddly, and it’s a race for cuddles between the two of them, they’re jealous of each other 😄😅
She’s eating better than at the beginning of the week because, following the store’s advice, I gave her C pro food which she didn’t like, so I bought her the same brand as Khali, Hill’s, and she devours it! She loves the garden and inspects every inch… I’m even afraid she might fall into our little pond 😅🤣
I’m attaching some photos for you and sending warm greetings to the entire team 😘
Hello to the whole team!
Everything is going great with Mia (formerly Maya), she seems very happy with us, enjoying running around Schaerbeek and excited to explore the Sonian Forest 🙂
She had her sterilization surgery yesterday, everything went well, she’ll be resting all week.
I hope everything is going well with all the furry friends, I can’t wait to come say hello as soon as I clear some time in my busy schedule 🙂
Have a great day everyone,
Valentin Sottiaux
Hello buddies 😻
I’m doing great, I get along really well with Pacha, I sleep a lot, and I eat a ton… my owner showers me with cuddles 🥰 and I love it. And I play a lot 😸
I have a whole floor just for myself in the wardrobe with baskets, and I enjoy taking a nap there from time to time.
Best regards,
Moskovics BJ
Hello,
I’m writing this message to give you some news about Lucette, the little cat we adopted a year ago. Since we found out he was a boy, we renamed him Lupin, and he’s the sweetest little cat I’ve ever seen! A little shy, but sociable and curious, he gets along with everyone and everyone gets along with him. My father is crazy about him, he’s crazy about the little cat he didn’t want, so much so that sometimes I even wonder if he doesn’t prefer him to me haha! Thank you for this opportunity, thank you for allowing us to welcome our Lupin!
Here are a few photos!
Hello,
we wanted to give you some news about our Zara (bichon cross with a terrier), adopted in July 2022.
She’s brought happiness back into the house! She’s a sweetheart, and when she looks into our eyes with her beautiful green eyes, we can’t help but fall in love. Full of life, very sociable, she loves going for walks…especially weekends at the seaside.
Many thanks to you for all you do, and we have a special thought for Mme Armand Martine (Zara’s godmother).
Many thanks,
Bouffioux Alain and Angèle
Hello Veeweyde team,
Just to let you know that Twixy has arrived in her new family. She doesn’t dare to leave her cage yet. We’re not forcing her out…we’re giving her time to feel comfortable and to get out on her own. The kids did offer her a carrot, which she didn’t hesitate to nibble on, so that’s a good sign. We’ll make an appointment with the vet after the long weekend.
Have a good long weekend everyone

Hello,
Pilou has discovered his garden and his housemates. For now, the 5 rabbits are observing each other from afar. There are a few chases, but nothing serious. Pilou doesn’t have an ounce of aggression, which unsettles my male, who gives up the chase after a few seconds…
Pilou even seeks contact with my very calm dogs. He romps around all day; he’s a real live wire. For now, he sleeps alone at night in a large hutch. He prefers his hay to fresh vegetables. Anyway, he’s too excited to eat 😆
Hello,
I’m sending you a photo of my little guinea pig that I picked up from you on January 25, 2023. His name was Grimli but I renamed him Tarzan. He’s been with me for a year now. He underwent an operation at the veterinary clinic to remove a cyst from his buttocks. He has recovered and is doing well.
Best regards,
Bianca
Hello,
We saw the article about Loka, the sister of our Luffy (one of the Mechelse puppies adopted in August 2022), and we were thrilled to hear news about the other puppies and wanted to share some news about Luffy’s progress. He’s been a wonderful family dog, behaving very well. He learns quickly, although he does have his stubborn moments. He’s very social and gives as much love as he receives.
Nicola.
Things are going fantastic here with our two treasures. They are inseparable and get along great with our dog Clara. Clara is becoming a real cuddle bug, while Gaston is turning into quite the foodie. When I’m cooking, I have to watch out that he doesn’t run off with the meat.
Many greetings from all of us!
Hi,
I just wanted to say how happy we are that we adopted Nina! She has adapted very well to our family, and we have also adapted to her. She brings us joy every day. The kids adore her, and she is a true gem. Everything is going very well. Thank you for choosing us. We couldn’t have wished for a better pet.
Ann-Catherine.
Hello everyone!
First of all, thank you so much for taking care of Chloé, she’s truly a sweetheart. The journey back home went smoothly. When we arrived home, she was stressed for about an hour and was running around everywhere. After that, we played ball with her and she just wouldn’t stop.
I couldn’t leave her alone at night, she always wanted to go upstairs but was afraid of the stairs, so I slept with her on the couch! I know, that’s not good…! Anyway, for a first day, it went well. Sometimes she has a bit of a sad look, but she plays and also sits quietly from time to time.
I’ll keep you updated.
Alicia.
Hello everyone!
It’s me, Atlas! I’ve been living with my new family for almost a year now. I’m incredibly happy here. I go on walks with friends (yes, I have my own WhatsApp group for walks!), have fun with my owners, cuddle, and so on. I truly have a dog’s life! A HAPPY DOG INDEED! And I’m not the only one, you know… MY OWNERS ARE TOO!
Nathalie.
Hello!
Here’s some news about Merlin, adopted on Saturday, November 4th. Merlin immediately felt at home in his new house. He is calm and relaxed and is having a great time with us. He especially enjoys his daily walks, whether it’s raining or the sun is shining. He spends his nights calmly, stretched out in the veranda or the living room for his naps. Merlin is very affectionate and loves to cuddle. In short, everything is going well with this unbeatable charmer…
Nathalie and Philippe.
My Rex, our Rex… On Monday, October 9th, you crossed the rainbow bridge to the dog and cat heaven. You gave us nine years of love and happiness. Despite your difficult temperament, we adored you. We know nothing about your first 18 months or why they abandoned you at Veeweyde. When we came to adopt a dog after losing our Baldo, we saw you in your kennel, curled up with such sad eyes. Your gaze haunted us all night. The next day, we came to get you. We were overjoyed! You had a difficult temperament, that’s true, and you scared many people, but with lots of love and patience, and with the help of a behavior therapist, you made great progress. At first, you didn’t want to play, or you didn’t know how… That’s why we adopted Croky, also from Veeweyde. You started playing with him! But you were still so shy! To further help you, we adopted two more dogs, Cookie and Poukia. Together they cared for you, helped you, and taught you to play! It took time, but you got the hang of it and felt more comfortable. It was amazing to see you develop, even though it was very slow. They will miss you very much… They are still looking for you. You left a big void in the house because you loved barking at everything and everyone.
Big Rex, we send you lots of kisses… You left too soon, too quickly. You will always remain in our hearts. Farewell, faithful friend. Thanks to Simon, who helped us so well and continues to help.
Thanks to Veeweyde and the volunteers.
Thank you,
Nadia.
Hello to the entire team at the shelter!
We have adopted Popeye and renamed him Bazil. Bazil already feels very much at home, and we have already visited the veterinarian. Today, he underwent surgery on both eyes, and everything went well! He will need to wear a collar for ten more days, and then he will be completely healed. Thank you for entrusting him to us and for taking care of him.
Magda.
Hello,
I’m writing to bring you some news about Nabu, who has quickly adapted to his new environment. He’s truly a sweetheart who follows us everywhere and is always looking for a cuddle. He has already found many spots in the house to rest. Sometimes we even find him under a blanket the next day. He eats and drinks very well. Nabu especially enjoys it when we give him some treats. We are very happy with this adoption, and I have the impression that he has also ‘adopted’ us.
Marine.
Hello everyone!
We would like to share some good news with you about Kiwi, whom we have renamed Milo. We adore this little cat and are thoroughly enjoying her this winter. She is a wonderful addition to our family. She is cute and very sweet. She enjoys both adventure and coziness. She especially loves cuddling with us on the couch.
The Hope Family & Milo.
Hallo Veeweyde,
Ricardo.
Hello,
I wanted to give you some news about Padme, who is now called Misty by my daughter. She is doing very well and gives lots of cuddles. She has already found her favorite spots in the house and is starting to explore the garden, but she always stays close to us and asks for cuddles. She is also very greedy but obeys quite quickly when we ask her not to jump on the table during meals. She is very friendly with other cats and very curious to meet them. Our older male cat has accepted her without any problems, but the younger one grumbles occasionally, although he has been doing this less lately. There have been no fights, just complaints from the male cat, but Misty is not afraid and looks at him curiously. So, things are getting better between them, and I don’t think there will be any major issues.
Sébastien.
Hello,
Here are a few photos of Titus, who is doing very well. As you can see, he takes his role as a grandchild very seriously. He also has the biggest bed in the world, but he still can’t sleep alone. On weekends, he is often in the Ardennes, at Benoit’s home in the middle of the forest, where he often looks out the window to see the squirrels.
Have a great day,
Matthias and Benoit.
Hello to the team!
Just a quick update after about ten days, to reassure everyone who might be concerned! Everything is going extraordinarily well, even better than I could have dreamed of, as a breed expert! Very obedient, social, calm in the house, calm on the street, loves cuddles without being clingy. I’ve rarely had a dog that was so attuned to me in such a short time. Strangely enough, despite the comfortable bed, she prefers to lie in the same spots as my deceased dog during the day, on the couch or by the desk. At night, she sleeps in the bed at the foot. Initially, we tested out the proximity of cars, the boulevard, the vet, the bakery, walks in the neighborhood, passersby, etc. No negative reactions, no fear, no concerns. Not even with police sirens, in short, ideal behavior. Then we decided to try sitting at a café, and that went smoothly too, just very curious. The same goes for our walks in the Jubelpark. This week we will try the metro, just one station though. We have already tried the escalators without any problems. She is also doing well with other dogs. We went to the dog park so she could play freely. She growls and barks at the huskies to keep them at a distance.
We want to thank the team for their good care and training. She is truly the perfect dog (of course, because she is mine!). I will keep you informed of her progress in a few weeks, but by then, you’ll already know that things are going very well between us and that she probably won’t be coming back. Oh yes, if I really had to point out something about her: she spills water everywhere when she drinks, sticks her nose in the shopping bag, and suffers from flatulence, worse than a bulldog!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
B. Dumont
Hello to the team at Veeweyde!
I am Venus, but now I am called Princesse. I was adopted on August 5, 2023, by my new mom, dad, and two brothers. And thanks to you, I have found myself in a loving family that spoils me all the time! I get cuddles and kisses, even when I sleep. I get tasty kibbles, occasionally chicken with rice and carrots, and a treat before bedtime. My mom plays with me in the morning when she wakes up and in the evening before she goes to bed. I love it, but my favorite time is bedtime. My mom takes me in her arms, gives me lots of kisses, and then I fall asleep next to her. IS THAT LOVE? If so, then I wish that for all my friends, cats, dogs, and rabbits in the shelter! With these last words, I wish you all a wonderful day and see you soon! Meowwww.
Angélique.
Hello everyone,
Cooper has now settled into our house and has become our friend. The walks are going very well. Cooper is sweet to everyone, including children and cats. He feels at home with us, and we are very happy to have him. Thank you for allowing us to expand our family!
Jennifer and Dempsey.
Hello,
As promised, here are a few photos of Perdita, whom we now call Delia. As I mentioned on the phone to the inspector, everything is going very well. Delia is sweet to both humans and animals, both indoors and outdoors. I remain attentive as agreed. During walks, she is either curious and wagging her tail or sniffing around everywhere. We have encountered a few aggressive dogs, and she ignores them. She lives with the dog my children have at their father’s house, and it’s going very well. She has been in heat since Tuesday, so I’m keeping an eye on that too. She sleeps in the living room and waits for me to come say good morning before going outside. I have taken her to other houses, and everyone thinks she behaves well. Sometimes, when I’m at work, she might have an accident in the living room, but nothing serious. Thank you for taking care of her so well all these years and for entrusting her to me.
Barbara.
Hello everyone,
I have safely arrived at my new mom and dad’s house. On Tuesday, I was very excited about all the new things in my life. On Wednesday, I slept all day long. At 4:00 p.m., we went for a short walk, but I wasn’t very sure of myself. On Thursday, we went for two walks, and my mom was very happy. I really wanted to go for a walk. I’m eating well here. I’m starting to get to know the daily routine. On Friday, we took a long walk to the park. I really enjoyed it. There were a lot of dogs who came to say hello to me. I spent two hours in the park before going home. On Saturday, we went into nature very early to my mom’s cottage. It’s very cool here, and there is a big garden where I can roll in the grass. On Monday, I’m going to the vet to have my teeth checked. Thank you very much to all of you.
Junior, Relinda, and Mark
Hello,
After spending a lot of time under the armchair, Blacky has taken refuge in a cardboard box where he likes to hide. This despite the baskets and places where he could find rest. He is very shy but not at all aggressive, and he allows himself to be petted and brushed when he’s in his box. He is house-trained, eats and drinks well, and since yesterday, he has slowly begun to explore the area. I will certainly send you some nicer photos once he gains more confidence and settles into the house.
Roxanne.
Hello!
It’s been just over a month since Rexou joined our family! He’s doing incredibly well and enjoying every minute. After a somewhat difficult start, he quickly found his groove! Aside from the kitchen furniture, where our T-Rex wanted to mark his territory for the first two weeks (you won’t tell my bosses, will you?), he quickly settled in here.
He even managed to turn three rules in his favor! The first: never in the bedroom! The second: never on the couch! The third: never in the flower beds! In short, he’s completely at home here.
He follows us like a little dog, very calmly, never alone. Because he’s been alone for too long in the past. He loves going for walks, three to five times a day, each time for half an hour to an hour and a half. Here comes the last little downside: it’s quite complicated with other dominant males… But we’re doing everything we can to make it work, and the people in our neighborhood are incredibly understanding and even thank us for adopting an ‘older’ dog. His health is good. He eats a little bit of everything; he’s a bit picky about treats, but he has realized that real life is there for the taking!
In short, we enjoy him just as much as he enjoys us. Here are a few photos of this little rascal.
Emeline.
Hello,
Here’s some news about Umé, whom we adopted from Veeweyde in 2019. She’s still as sweet as ever. Over time, she has even learned the basics of canine communication codes, which she didn’t know at all before. She has made a few doggy friends in the park. She also has a “loving neighbor” with whom she enjoys taking walks. She’s so much more relaxed around other dogs that we’re considering going back to the shelter to welcome a new friend!
Last month, Tessy was spayed, and it went well, apart from the first night of pain, which I believe is normal given the type of surgery. We continue our journey together. We are still working to ensure that everything goes smoothly on our outings. We have updated the vaccinations, including rabies, so that we can travel together during our holidays. Thank you for your help in finding Tessy; she means a lot to us. We hope we can mean as much to her.
José
As expected, here’s some news about Charly. He’s doing well, behaving himself, and hasn’t caused any mischief yet. He’s completely settled into the house. He loves going for walks and cuddling. He has a large garden all to himself. He’s adorable and is very pampered by his mom and dad. Last Saturday, he had a photoshoot. Also, a visit to the vet was scheduled, and he’s in good condition. Once again, thank you for trusting us to adopt him. We are so happy with him.
Christel, Ludovic, and Charly
It’s been 3 years now since I adopted Sheila from Veeweyde, and I must say she’s an amazing dog. An exceptional travel companion… I have complete trust in her; I sometimes take her to work, and she brings gentleness and calmness to the people who pet her. I had to have her ears operated on three years in a row because she kept getting ear infections and had become resistant to antibiotics. She is now deaf, but that hasn’t changed her behavior. She has adapted and seems relieved. I think she’s happy. I keep telling everyone who will listen that there are very good dogs in shelters; all you need is the right match! Don’t shop … adopt!
Delphine
Almost 7 years ago, Jack came into my life! It’s true that one is always somewhat dubious about dogs up for adoption. We never really know why they are there or why people left them. Jack is a mix of American Staff and Beagle. I adopted him when he was three years old, the best decision of my life! Of course, it’s not always easy at the beginning, but you have to take the time to understand and accept what he has been through. From that moment on, it’s all about love, patience, and trust. It doesn’t matter what BREED! It’s what you can offer him that counts.
Today, Jack is almost 11 years old. He loves food (especially ice cream) and enjoys snuggling under a blanket to sleep. He loves going for walks anywhere and sunbathing. But his favorite activity is giving kisses and cuddles to all the people he loves and who make his life so much better. Don’t hesitate to adopt, it will change your life.
Mégane
Here’s some news about little Knacky, now renamed Nicky. Living together with our Pilou is going very well. The little one is very playful and has thus gained a new lease of life. She has a feisty character, but remains fearful of strangers or new things she encounters… the walks should help reduce her fears… We haven’t been able to train her yet because she’s in heat. She was immediately house-trained…
Hans
Two years ago, we were fortunate enough to bring Frimousse into our home. Our vet believes she is now ten years old. However, she is still as alert as if she were only three years old! She is adorable, affectionate, patient, and calm. To sum it up powerfully: she makes us happy every minute! As proof, I am sending you a photo. Once again, thank you very much for the care you gave her after finding her wandering the streets.

In December 2022, our little Jack Russell, 14 years old, passed away from an osteosarcoma in his face. However, we couldn’t imagine not having a dog around. Our last two Jack Russells came from Veeweyde, and we wanted another one. The vet, who was present that day, agreed to take him out of the kennel with great care and attention. The little guy immediately calmed down. He was very handsome. But would he jump up at me? I bent down, reached out with both hands, and put his head between them while talking to him. He seemed calm and not excited at all. Sacha didn’t like the bars very much. One of my friends’ voices echoed in my head: “Would you like to be locked up?”
The next day, we adopted him. After 15 days, Sacha was house trained. He played in the garden with his toys without damaging them. This is quite rare, especially for young dogs. He jumped for joy at the slightest opportunity and followed me everywhere like my shadow. He quickly got used to being left alone while we went shopping. He was walked twice a day, covering a total of 6 kilometers around the fields and hills. The lack of socialization was a big problem: at first, he would constantly get angry with all the other dogs he encountered… Then, one day, out of nowhere, a very large Schnauzer with a big mustache came sniffing behind him in the hills. Sacha said nothing. The newcomer was calm and wanted to play. Within a few minutes, they were friends. The two leashes were taken off, and the rest of the walk seemed like they had been friends for years.
In the next four months, Sacha made about ten friends, with no preference for any particular breed. However, Sacha still gets angry for no reason sometimes. Sacha has a very good character and knows how to be patient. So, he learns quickly. He is not traumatized, angry, or aggressive. On the contrary, he is sweet and affectionate. He loves to play with his rag dolls or his dice with the ball. He is tireless and never seems to get exhausted. According to us, Sacha is just a young dog who wants to explore the world. All he needed was a little attention, education, and help in discovering that world. His presence is a pleasure every day. This little creature is a gift from heaven for us. Veeweyde gave him a chance and took good care of him. The perseverance and love given to him at such a young age (he was only a year and a half old) in this special shelter also saved him psychologically. We want to thank Veeweyde very much, both for him and for us.
Christian
Meow,
The first few hours I spent on my new owner’s lap, my favorite spot, where I also asked for cuddles. I explored my new home and opted for the high places. I get a bit stressed if I’m not being paid attention to, and I ‘talk’ a lot, especially at night. I enjoy the kibbles, love to chase feathers, and adore cardboard boxes.
Thanks for taking good care of me.
Gaston
Hello,
A while ago, I went in search of a companion for my two pets, a dog and a cat. When I brought her home, I placed her between them, and the dog started to wash her while the cat began to sniff her. The cat wasn’t entirely pleased at first, but now, after a few weeks, she’s become the dog’s favorite. They can’t be separated anymore. The cat now considers her one of her own. The rabbit gives everyone licks and has found her place with us. She has a whole house to run around in and also a garden. As I’m busy writing this message, madam had to voice her opinion. She’s friendly to everyone and doesn’t hesitate to make her presence known. For a small rabbit, she takes up a lot of space!
Patricia
A week ago, we adopted Pounette, and we wanted to give you some news (positive news). Pounette is very cute; currently, she lives with us in the house and enjoys the garden when the weather permits. She is very sweet to the whole family and communicates (settles quietly in a corner) when it’s time to leave her alone. She eats very well. We are very happy with our choice and with your valuable advice.
Cécile
I would love to give you an update about our super cute cat, Sweety, who has now been given a new name, namely WiFi. I adopted our WiFi in June 2019. But today, our WiFi is such a sweet and grateful cat that he weighs about 4.5kg. He follows me everywhere like a little dog, loves walking and playing in the garden… he’s a sweetheart, so grateful too! I’m sending you a few photos so you can enjoy them too.
Kind regards,
Martine, Dirk, and WiFi
Hello everyone,
My name is Nelson! I was adopted in the spring of 2010 by a wonderful family. I was 3 years old then and always sat alone in a cage (apparently I wasn’t very nice to my furry friends). Then a miracle happened! Bye bye Veeweyde and hello to my new home in Brussels with 3 young children.
In August 2010, it was time for a change of scenery: I moved to Istanbul for my owner’s job. I spent 3 years basking in the sun and even got a second dog friend there. He was found in a parking lot along the highway! Three years later, in 2013, we were back in Belgium until February 2023!
My owner announced that he was being transferred… to Chile! And me, 16 years old in the meantime; how will I survive this long journey? I am deaf, slightly blind, and my bladder has become unpredictable. According to my vet, my heart can handle this long journey. He gives me monthly injections of ‘Librela’, which allow me to relive my second youth (fortunately it works, given the high cost!).
My owners and my 6 girlfriends (we’ve become an XXL tribe by now) had quite a bit of worries: euthanasia to avoid suffering, entrusting me to a loving family member (but I only love them!), or trying the long journey, with the risk that I might not survive it!
You can guess the rest from the photos! I left and I survived! I would like to mention that I was lucky to take the Thalys and thus avoid two flights. The staff was very friendly to the animals (yes, I say it again; I traveled with Olive, the cat, and Pacha, my Turkish friend). My flight with Air France was even luxurious! I only got into my cage 1 hour and 30 minutes before departure!
The staff also increased the heating in the cargo hold by 2 degrees (so 20 degrees) because they knew I was very old!
When I landed in Santiago after many, many hours in my cage, I saw the tears in my family’s eyes: the miracle had happened!
I am 16 years and two months old. I know I only have a few weeks/months left to live, but I am so happy they didn’t abandon me. I enjoy the sun, my beautiful garden, and the love of my family!
Sending you many greetings from Santiago.
Love, Nelson
Benny, renamed Ryo, arrived safely after a trouble-free journey on public transport. He hid in the house for a few hours, but eventually felt very much at home in less than 24 hours. He shows a lot of affection and also demands it. That’s how he recharges his batteries. He lives harmoniously with our existing cat without any issues. We’re very happy that we followed our intuition and chose him! Thank you for your patience.
Johanne, Aïna, Snooze & Ryo!
A year ago, we adopted Luna and Chinook. Here’s some news about them. Chinook, the youngest, is as energetic as ever. She loves chasing after mice. In the mornings, she gives us licks, urging us to get up early and go into the garden. Luna, the older one, is much calmer. She enjoys looking out of the window at the garden. The slightest breeze and she rushes back into the house. In the photos, you can see Luna in the snow. Everything is going well with our two little cats.
Hi,
Just a quick message to give you some news about Leo. He’s doing very well. We’ve started a new treatment for his many allergies, and he’s finally starting to feel better. He often comes to work with me, and we recently went to the beach. He loves it, as usual! We’ll try to stop by the shelter soon so you can see him, and at the same time, we’ll bring some supplies for those who don’t have a family yet.
Have a great day and see you soon!
Molly
Hello!
I’m happy to be able to send you the first photos of Biscuit in his new environment. He’s already accustomed to the comfort of the couch! And he’s as energetic as ever. He’s also particularly affectionate and enjoys long walks in the neighborhood. My daughters adore him, and it seems to be mutual! I also want to take this opportunity to inform you of the passing of my previous dog, Booby, also adopted from Veeweyde. He passed away in mid-January at the veterinary clinic ‘Champ du Roi’ in Etterbeek. He was with us for 6 years.
Frédéric.
Hello to the whole team,
Scott is doing well. He’s slowly learning what’s allowed and what’s not. This requires quite a bit of work because he didn’t have any training earlier. It’s much harder at the age of eight months than at two months. But we’re taking our time, and with the help of small rewards, it’s going well. The garden is his kingdom: he can run around in it whenever he wants, but he needs reassurance by regularly coming to check if I’m still in the kitchen. Here are some photos, and see you soon for the next update.
Michèle and Scott
Hello, it’s Charlie!
I wanted to give you an update two weeks after my departure. I feel a little better every day: I enjoy going to the park to meet new friends! I also love it when my dad holds me on the leash and I get to chase the ball in the mud! I’m a real bundle of energy. My dad is teaching me a lot of tricks: sit, down, shake, stay, heel, wait, no pulling, go to my bed. I got a Kong toy with food in it and that keeps me busy for hours. At night, I sleep in my corner without crying or wetting myself! I’ve been alone at home for a while and it went well. My dad understands that I have a past and fears, and that I’m not perfect… but he’s patient and gives me all the love I need to blossom a little more every day.
Big licks to Sofke, Mike, and all the other buddies.
Hello,
I’m here to bring you some news about Biscotte, whom I recently adopted from the shelter in Anderlecht. She’s doing great, eating normally, and drinking a lot. She plays, hops around, and urinates in front of the cages of the other rabbits. Hehe. That’s something Mom has to clean up! The others can’t get along with her. Anyway, everyone has their own room here. But I only have the living room and the bedroom, so my white rabbits take turns going outside, in the morning or in the afternoon.
Biscotte is doing well. On the first evening when she arrived at my place, we did a check-up with the vet after washing her a little with water and a washcloth.
I think she’s really blossoming because she’s less shy and happily gallops around her room. In the summer, I also plan to put her in the garden. Since there’s no grass at my place, I sometimes take them to the park on a leash. I’ve done this with the other rabbits too.
Thank you for giving me the chance to make Biscotte happy.

Hello,
In December 2018, I adopted a 2-month-old Belgian Malinois. I named her Luna. And one year ago, I took in a mix of Belgian Malinois and Turkish Shepherd who was mistreated by her previous owners. Her name is Tina. I’m sending you some photos of my two great friends. Luna, whom I adopted from you, is the one with the lighter color.
Luna is a very sensitive and very, very energetic dog. When she was small, she was afraid of almost everything. We worked a lot on building trust. I made sure she felt safe and secure. Fortunately, she met many good people and lots of other nice dogs. Then we started doing various activities where she could use her sense of smell. This helped her learn to relax and gain confidence. Eventually, we moved on to mantrailing, and she responded very enthusiastically.
But Luna’s favorite activity is running! Every day, she runs in the fields with her adopted sister! She also enjoys going to the stables with my son. Everyone who meets Luna loves her. She is so sweet. Due to her sensitivity, she adapts to every character. She is very attentive and respects everyone’s boundaries, whether human or animal. I always say that Luna is perfect, and she confirms it every day. I have had dogs all my life, but I can tell you that Luna is the one who touched my soul. She is simply amazing. We have developed a very close bond.

Hello,
After nearly a week with his new family, I can tell you that Tcheko has settled in very well. He adapted very quickly. He is very friendly and eager to learn. We have very few accidents indoors. Tcheko is social with other animals and patient during short absences. He is a sweetheart of a dog. Here are some photos of him in his new home.
Jeremy.
Indeed, it has been 6 years already, and yes, time flies! Especially when we receive so much love from our faithful four-legged friend, Butch. We love him more than anything else in the world. We spoil him every day with love! Without you, this happiness would not exist. Once again, thanks to Veeweyde for all your work.
Om.
In 2015, we adopted Miro. His soft brown gaze from behind the bars of his cage immediately clicked with us. It felt like I already knew him… He is an affectionate, playful, and dynamic dog who always brightens our day! We are very happy that we can give him a new chance, a warm home, and a garden where he can fully enjoy himself! Miro is an energetic dog! He shows a lot of affection. When we are sick, he stays close by. He loves going for walks and cuddles. We are very happy that we could take him in. He has been abandoned twice already! He travels everywhere with us. With time and patience, anything is possible. Thank you for allowing us to adopt him! Have a great day to the entire team at Veeweyde.
Isabelle and Thierry from Beauvechain.
Hello,
I just wanted to circle back on my adoption from last week. It might sound a bit silly, but I feel like it was meant to be that I would meet this loving little creature! It’s like love at first sight. He’s energetic, playful, and a professional cuddler! He’s very social with other dogs and doesn’t react to horses either. I can’t thank you enough for Tupac. This dog is very special!

Hello,
Here’s some news about Charly. We’ve named him Yankee… Everything is going very well! He’s a sweetheart! His big sister has fully accepted him, and there are no issues with the cat. Yankee accompanies me to work and adapts well. All the customers are in love with him. He knows how to charm everyone! Once again, thank you for everything you do.
Stéphanie
This is “Fuku”. We adopted this little kitten yesterday. “Fuku” means “luck/prosperity” in Japanese. She seems to be adapting very well, despite the presence of our four young children. She shows no signs of aggression towards the children. We hope she can spend many beautiful days with our family!
Florence
Hello everyone,
Here’s some news about Sixy and Tito, the two cocker spaniels I adopted from you. Sixy is very sweet and loves to run in the meadow. She’s a caring dog for the other cockers, and they get along well. However, she’s not so fond of dogs she doesn’t know. Tito enjoys walks in the forest.
Trudy
Hello,
I adopted Petula on May 31, 2021, and named her Cannelle. Cannelle suffers from ataxia (reduced coordination), but this has developed into a mild impairment. She doesn’t jump as high or run as fast as other cats, but she manages very well. She’s also a very sweet cat and has completely adapted to my other cats. Cannelle also enjoys exploring the garden, where she has found a spot to observe the birds. Once again, thank you for the excellent care you provide to animals without homes. They all deserve a second chance.
Elisabeth
Hello Veeweyde team,
Here’s an update on Tchoupi, the rabbit I adopted from you a month ago. He’s adapting very well to his new environment. He met his big brother, Brownie, and they get along well despite Brownie being a bit dominant. Tchoupi loves going for walks and makes big jumps. He lives freely during the day, but at night, we still put him in his large cage until the stitches from his castration are removed.

Mafia joined our family in July 2020 and quickly found her place among us. Although people who don’t know her may find her a bit overwhelming, for us, she is the perfect dog. Adorable, intelligent, playful, but also protective. We couldn’t have found a better dog.
Thank you for entrusting her to us.
Sandrine
I wanted to share some news with you about Titus. As you can see in the photo, Titus is very tired. He needs to go for walks several times a day. Additionally, he spends the whole day ensuring that he gives his humans enough licks. In the garden, he has made a pee spot just under the blackberry bush. He has decided that eating herbs from the garden strengthens his bond with Margot, who is vegetarian. Fortunately, she also gives him dog food with meat. Margot also wants to let the team know that Titus’s stools have been much better since then.
Titus recently broke his record: he ate all his dog food in eleven seconds. We are submitting this for the Guinness Book of Records, of course. He broke another record. In less than 48 hours, he transformed from a dog that pulled during walks to one that now regularly looks back or beside him to check if everything is okay with Margot. Titus clearly prefers slightly older ladies. Nicole, Margot’s mom, has built a unique bond with Titus. We sincerely thank you for the trust you have placed in us. I am very happy to have this Labrador in my life. A friend pointed out to me that he is very sensitive to people’s emotions. I would like to continue working on this. He always stays close to the person who is speaking. He pays attention to changes in tone. (It would be good if he does this with other dogs too, but we’re working on it. It’s incredible how quickly he understands what is asked of him.)The other animals are gradually finding their place next to Titus. It’s nice to see.
Happy 2022 to the entire Veeweyde team and to all the animals!
Titus, Margot, and the humans
Hello and happy 2022!
Here’s some news about Ferdek, adopted in November 2021. His name was Gamin. Everything is going very well. He is sociable and house-trained… and has been neutered for three weeks now! He is a cute little guy who loves going for walks. He has fully adapted to his new life with us. Thank you.

Hello everyone,
In August, we adopted Tyrion, an adorable kitten. He gets along very well with our “chonchon”. He loves to play, take naps, climb trees, observe birds, pose for photos, or look so pitiful that he gets whatever he wants. Thanks to Veeweyde Tournai for this encounter and adoption.
Lemaire Family.
A short message to bring you some news about our Umé, an Akita adopted in 2019. She is perfect, even though she sometimes dares to steal a cookie. She loves cookies, after all. Umé behaves impeccably. We are currently working on making her a bit more active. She is a sweetheart of a dog. Thank you.

My dearest Olivia, adopted in 2005, passed away on January 8th.
“Olivia, Olly, my darling, 17 years together. You had a difficult start in life. I don’t know much about your past before you were adopted from Veeweyde. You were quite excited in the first few weeks at home. At night, you would knock over the trash can in search of food, even though your bowl was filled. With a lot of patience, several check-ups at the vet, and a magical treatment from Dr. Raouis, you became the queen of the house. You loved playing with balls. You were intelligent, gentle, could open doors, turn on the printer, and asked for cuddles. You welcomed the new cats in the family with the tenderness of a mother and the authority of a queen. The vet was supposed to come this afternoon to end your suffering. But you were quicker, and discreetly, you gently crossed over. You were incredibly cute when you lived and so graceful when you died. We will miss you.”

Hello everyone!
Here’s some news about Leo. He’s doing better and better. He’s less anxious when someone visits. He also allows himself to be approached more easily by people he doesn’t know. It seems like he’s always been here; he feels good here. Leo behaves impeccably. Occasionally, he does chase after the cat! He’s a sweetheart, and he’s found his place in our family!

Hello,
Cheops has surprised us all with his gentle character. He has a heart of gold. We are very happy to have him with us. We’ve noticed that he quickly adapts to his new life. He already knows very well what’s allowed and what’s not. For example, he has his own wooden stick to play with. When we come home, his stick is just in its place. Cheops could easily take his stick, but he knows that’s not allowed. He is very playful and brings us all sorts of little things to throw so he can catch them. Cheops also loves being in the garden. Unfortunately, he has to take two stairs to get there. That’s why we placed a plate with an anti-slip layer for him. After 2 minutes, Cheops was already used to it. He asks for cuddles and gives kisses. He also chose his own sleeping place, and everything is going very smoothly. Have a great day, and see you soon;
Stefaan, Johanna, Lotte, Marieke, and Elise.
Hello everyone,
We’d like to give you some news about our little treasure MOGWAI. Without you, Mogwai wouldn’t be who he is today. Thank you so much for all the good care. Mogwai is incredibly sweet and friendly from his first moments here. He’s a real charmer, goofy, and very protective. Heartfelt thanks.
David and Nathalie
It will soon be two and a half months since Frimousse came to us, to our great joy. At first, I was told she was elusive and still needed to become social. During the first two days, she hid in every corner. But then, with a lot of gentleness and cuddles, she became more affectionate until she didn’t know which lap to choose. Frimousse is truly adorable, sweet, and tender above all. She goes outside in the garden but quickly comes back because she is quite scared. That works for me: I don’t have to call her or spend hours searching for her outside. She is perfectly healthy, eats and drinks normally. In short, this cat is a dream for us, and we are for her. I’m sorry I don’t know anything about her past. But anyway, she is really happy with us. Thank you for your welcome and for the care you gave her.
Francine.
Hello,
We had a wonderful day with Prince! He was very well-behaved in the car, behaved nicely in the store, and with the other dogs when we went to buy him some stuff. He felt at home right away and is getting along well with the cat. He is house-trained, drank a lot, and ate a little. He played a lot and went for a nice walk. He loves being gently brushed and was really well-behaved during mealtime. In short, everything is going great, and we are really happy to have adopted him. Now he’s tired and prefers his carpet to his bed… See you soon,
The Fabri family.
Joy, an Australian Bouvier adopted from you in August 2017 when he was two and a half months old, went on a hiking trip in Luxembourg this summer. Joy became more and more accustomed to walking and even sleeping in the tent! He had everything he needed for this adventure: a sleeping bag and even boots to protect his paws.
Carine.
This was Duma. She came to us the day before her 13th birthday. Miserable, full of pimples, and surprised to be with us. She quickly found her place and literally became part of our lives. She adopted my 2 little dachshunds and moved us with her kindness, love, and tenderness. The little misery became a great happiness. Her sight and hearing deteriorated. A toe was amputated, and she went through it without a sound, without sighing or complaining.
She celebrated her 15th birthday deaf and blind, but still sunny and calm. Her legs often failed her, too often. But still, she always went outside to do her business in the garden. Lately, she didn’t want to go further than the terrace. She ate less, slept less, and didn’t feel like moving much anymore.
This morning she fell asleep in my arms: so kind, so gentle, without making a fuss… My sweetheart is gone… I was able to stroke her, love her, take care of her… Two years… two years of serenity. A beautiful soul. That was Duma…
Anne-Marie.
Hello everyone!
Here are some photos from our vacation. Cookie has profoundly changed our lives: love, tenderness, and so much more. Love on paws! Not a day goes by without thinking of your team, especially Virginie and Sophie, and I want to thank them again for their patience and kindness. Because of them, our lives have changed!
See you soon,
Nathalie and Cookie.
Jef unexpectedly passed away on July 3, 2021, due to a ruptured spleen. He was 10 years old. He died at home surrounded by his family. With sadness, we remember all the good times we had with him. Jef was a fantastic dog, smart, gentle, sensitive, a life companion, and loved going on long walks. His departure leaves a big void in our home and in our hearts.
The story of Jef:
Jef was a good Belgian Shepherd-Labrador mix and was adopted from you on March 22, 2013, when he was two years old. He was well-behaved but not trained and completely crazy. He was clever and could open doors, turn on lights. Nothing escaped his notice. He dictated the rules to the cat, she was obliged to eat outside and was not allowed to enter the living room…
We met Nicolas in obedience class. The original goal was for Jef to stop pulling on the leash during walks and to teach him basic commands so that everything would go well between us. When we had just adopted him, he was the victim of a serious car accident in June. He had to be immobilized for 6 weeks. Everything went back to normal except that Felix – the cat – decided in October that it was time to be respected and resumed his place at home. Jef became unbearable, eating anything he found, pulling tissues out of boxes, damaging thermostatic valves, papers, boxes, glasses, armrests of the armchair, toys… He only misbehaved during the day in our presence. At night, he slept peacefully, and also during the day when we weren’t there. After about a month, his misbehavior reached its peak, and we didn’t know what to do anymore. We were at a loss to retrieve books, CDs, pillows, hats, socks…
It couldn’t go on like this, and there was no question of abandoning him. We decided to contact Nicolas again, and he came to the house. We realized that we did not have the right reaction when faced with Jef’s destruction, which Nicolas flawlessly demonstrated. After that, we all behaved more coherently towards Jef, ignoring him when he misbehaved. Everyone was calmer, and so was Jef. One should not let a situation worsen if it can be easily resolved.
And so began a fantastic 8-year adventure with Jef, our faithful companion. We thank the entire Veeweyde team for all the good work they do for the animals.
Cécile and Philip.
Lara is doing very well and goes on long walks with her best friend, a small French bulldog. She eats well and has gotten a little thicker since she was with you! But the vet said she was at the right weight and that it wasn’t too much, so we’re good. In the afternoons, she takes good naps while I’m at work, which means she’s in Olympic shape when I come home. Thank you for everything and for your dedication,
Lindsay.
Hello to all who take such good care of what should always be our friends, the animals.
I often think about it, but today I’m writing it: I want to thank you immensely. In March 2019, my husband and I came to adopt a cat, selfishly to ensure that I would feel less alone if my husband were no longer here. I knew my husband’s end was relatively near, and I didn’t want to return to an empty, lifeless apartment, something my husband perfectly understood. We’ve had dogs, and I know that a 5 kg dog is 5 kg of unconditional love, but I no longer felt capable of handling the responsibilities of a dog, having to go outside several times a day, regardless of how you’re feeling, and so on. So, one
Thursday afternoon, after a tennis match, my husband surprised me by taking me to you. As I’m not getting any younger either, I wanted a cat that was 5 or 6 years old, black or gray striped, possibly red, but not white, a male, I’ve always had males, dogs or cats. When you go to a shelter, I always notice the contrast between dogs and cats. Dogs are orphans who long with all their hearts to be taken in by a family. Cats seem totally indifferent. In the cat room, there was a shelf with two black cats, a big male at the top and a small female at the bottom. So I walked over to them, while glancing at the many other cats living their lives in the room. The male and female shared the same food bowl. When the male approached, the female sent him back to his shelf with an authoritative paw and then tried to charmingly attract my attention, I don’t remember exactly how, but very clearly. Of course, she got to me, I resisted because she was only a year old, but I couldn’t resist, especially since the comments about her “affection” were mentioned.
I have no regrets, my husband passed away at the end of 2019, and she has contributed enormously to my balance. She’s there, I can talk to her, touch her, especially because she’s so affectionate. On her part, she’s found a home where she’s loved, sheltered, fed, and cared for. My previous cat dates back to my teenage years, and after that, we had dogs, so I still don’t understand all the subtleties of my cat’s character, it remains mysterious sometimes. Anyway, thank you a thousand times.
Viviane and Chacha.
Here’s some news about Billie, whom I adopted at the end of October 2020. After spending her first evening hiding under the furniture, she quickly adjusted to her new home. She’s currently being treated for a minor ear infection caused by parasites and is hiding a lot, but I’m sure with patience and gentleness, she’ll come out of her hiding spots again. Thank you very much,
Romane.
It’s been almost a year since I adopted Sheila from Veeweyde, and she’s truly a joy. I have absolutely no regrets about adopting her. She’s calm, adorable, obedient, and follows me everywhere. She’s a real travel companion. She’s the sweetest dog in the world. She reinforces the idea that I will never buy a dog. I will always adopt. I’ve been a volunteer for 15 years, and I can say that there are very good dogs and cats in shelters, they just need to meet the right people.
Delphine.
We adopted Kaya, previously known as Diva, almost 5 years ago. She is an exceptional dog. Everyone tells us that we will never have another dog like her. When she came to us, she was one year old and already perfectly trained: she was housebroken, she would lie under the table when we ate, she didn’t go into the bedrooms, she didn’t jump on the armchairs… We made the most of what she had learned, and we are still happy to have welcomed this bundle of fur, who is just as calm as on the first day.

Hello to the entire team!
At the beginning of the new year, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the very best and to share some news about our new little friend Cookie, formerly known as Chuck at your home. He is doing very well and loves to play with our dog Luna, who is completely in love with her new friend!
Camille.
I adopted Nouchka in 2008. She has been everywhere: First Etterbeek, then Overijse, Watermael-boitsfort, and then on to a bigger adventure: France. Arpajon, Brétigny, and recently Dourdan. She had been sick since the beginning of 2020. Hyperthyroidism, the vet said. She left on December 21st and didn’t come back. She probably went to die. After several ads were placed, a neighbor called me on December 25th. He found her peaceful little body lying in the grass. Nouchka was 16 and a half, born in June 2004, and adopted from you at Veeweyde. A star is born, probably on December 24th.
Stéphanie.
I want to thank you for the good care you provided to Kenzo for almost 10 months. This dog is adorable. I adopted him over 3 months ago. I have taken a few lessons with a dog trainer specializing in socialization. So far, I have had the privilege of enjoying delightful walks in Terkamerenbos without him being on the leash. Congratulations on your work.
Dominique
On January 14, 2011, we came to the Veeweyde shelter to adopt an 8-month-old puppy. Ten years later, Alta still remains the center of attention, even though her majesty has taken it a bit easier during her walks. King’s Day was the perfect occasion to wear the crown! She is a faithful companion every day, and we don’t think she has changed much in 10 years.
The McGeown Family
Good morning,
Here are some updates about Ophelia, who is now called Sépia since she arrived in her new home, and she seems to appreciate it because she responds when I call her by her new name. We’ve been living together for almost a month now, and I’m very happy with it! She’s an adorable rabbit, and considering her progress, I think she’s feeling good. She still has some anxiety (which is quite normal for rabbits in general, I think), but I also see that she’s making a lot of effort to move forward. Since my goal was to build a beautiful long-term relationship, I make sure to give her the necessary time to get used to each other, and to find her place (her living space, my habits, etc.). From the first evening, she cautiously sought my contact, by regularly coming close to where I was. I also make sure from the beginning that every contact (except in some cases where I’m a bit more authoritative) with her is agreed upon: I reach out my hand to let her understand my intention to pet her, and then I let her decide if the contact is okay for her or not. If she comes to me, I take the opportunity to pet her, and if she leaves, I leave her alone. It’s important to me that she feels comfortable and respected. The next evening, less than 24 hours after she came to me, Sépia jumped on the couch and licked my ear! I cried with joy… Since then, she comes to me on the couch every evening (making about twenty climbs and descents…) when I read or watch TV, for cuddle moments or play. During the day when I work from home, she’s very calm and spends most of her time under the couch or at my feet. It’s incredible how affectionate and seeking contact she is. She comes quite easily when I call her, almost from the beginning… She also handles quite well when I train her to be picked up/held (weight control, possible future care,…). Of course, she tends to run away, but she has never bitten me to express her discomfort. She’s a great rabbit! As for treats, it took me a while to find something because she’s not at all greedy, but I discovered that she loves chicory! What a little dance of joy when I gave it to her for the first time! Thank you for taking care of her during her stay with you!
Vicky.
Hello,
I adopted a Tibetan Spaniel cross from you, Raoul, on July 13, 2019. I would like to take this opportunity to send you some pictures and give you some news: Raoul makes our family very happy. He is a rare kindness, in excellent health and accompanies me everywhere: I am lucky to be able to take him with me to work. We are so happy with him!
Daphné.
Good evening,
I adopted Tybalt, a gray tabby kitten, from you on June 30, 2003. I was 23 years old at the time. He was my very first cat. After nearly 18 years with us, Tybalt left us last night, after a very full life. He spent his first 8 years with me, but after spending a few ‘green’ vacations at my parents’ house, they refused to give him back to me, along with his sister Nephtys (who was found in a garbage bin in the meantime), claiming they were much better off in the countryside. So, he spent the next 10 years as the master of his kingdom, ruling over an acre of garden with his sister. My father, who had never had a cat in his life, became his absolute companion. Tybalt spent hundreds of hours on his shoulders, or lying on his desk, preventing him from writing his articles (there was no question of pushing the cat away, he would disturb him). Tybalt was very happy and was pampered until the end. He leaves behind a great void. Tybalt Prince of Cats will be greatly missed.
Adeline.
Hello,
Here’s a brief update to give you some news about Koko, or rather about Wilko. Everything is going well. He is super sweet and playful. At the moment, he follows us everywhere in the house. As soon as we change rooms, he gets up and comes along with us. In the first few days, he did a few small pees inside the house, as if he wanted to mark every room, because it was one small pee per new room he discovered. For example, if we went to get something in the garage or basement, and hop! No time to react, he lifted his leg. Now, he still follows us everywhere when we go downstairs, but he no longer pees inside. During walks, he pulls on the leash, especially when we encounter another dog. In that case, he has only one goal in mind, which is to meet his fellow canine. This causes him to pull and bark even if he’s across the street. But when we let him approach, the meeting usually goes well. We hope he’ll be less eager to discover everything! Last night, we replaced his collar with a harness, and since then, he seems to pull less. We’ll see! He has already visited the vet and received a few vaccinations to complete his vaccination schedule. So far, he hasn’t been alone for long, but the few times we were away, everything went well. Those are the updates about our little Wilko after a week in our family.
Françoise, Guibert, and Amandine.
We adopted Lucette in August. We named her Lucette, after Lucie. She is adorable, she spent the night with me, and we cuddled all night long. The whole family loves her! She is not only cuddly and super sweet, but also very clean. We are very happy with her. Here are a few photos to show how happy she is! It’s only been a day since we adopted her, and yet she already feels very comfortable, much to our delight. I’ll leave it to you, I’m going to cuddle her!
Gabrielle.
It’s me, Mimi! After a rather noisy car ride for my adopters, I arrived safely in my new home. It didn’t take long for me to settle in. It’s cool, I’m the only one here. For two nights, I couldn’t stop cuddling to show my people how happy I was. Change of kibbles, heat, my tummy didn’t like it, and my human took me to the vet. I’m now on an Italian diet, pasta and tuna, and a yellow powder, and I’m already feeling a bit better. I’m sure I’ll be up to mischief again in a few days. Have a great day, Mimi.
A word from the new owners: Mimi is an adorable cat who loves cuddles, responds to her name, and listens well. She’s a treasure of a cat!
Ariane.
Hello,
Jess is doing very well, she is in top shape! She is still as playful, a bit crazy, clumsy, and very affectionate. She is perfect! She has grown a lot and lost a few kilos due to all the kilometers of walking and the number of balls she has collected. She has been with us for just over two months now, but it feels like years. We took her to the sea and on vacation in France, and it went very well. She plays just as well with the children as with the adults! We are very happy that she is part of our life, and I think she has adopted us too. Here are a few photos of her first month. Thank you very much from all three of us, and also thank you very much for everything you do for these little furries.
Marion and Artus.
Hello,
We adopted Filou just over a week ago. We wanted to give you some news. Filou is now called Buddy because we knew he would be our “Buddy”. He’s doing better every day. He has already been to the trainer three times, one of which was for a long walk in the Forêt de Soignes with other dogs! At home, he has plenty of toys to keep him busy, and he bites much less! At night, he’s as quiet as a mouse. There’s still some work to do, but he’s going to be a good dog. We already love him dearly and are very happy to have him in our home.
Camille and Thomas.
As every year, I’m writing to give you news about Goran, an old Mechelaar whom I adopted from you on June 10, 2019. Every year, I write to you on the anniversary of his adoption, but this year, I decided to wait until October 20, his birthday. I wanted to tell you that Goran was doing well, that he was happy, and that we were also happy with him, that he was greedy, playful, curious, incredibly sweet, and affectionate. Goran was all of that until yesterday afternoon. He won’t celebrate his 15th birthday. It was a bit of a shock because he was doing well, he ran, barked, lived life to the fullest, and then suddenly everything changed. The vet came, and he was already dying. Euthanasia was inevitable. Of course, we knew he was very old. But we weren’t ready to lose him yet. So be it. Goran was an incredible dog who truly changed our lives, and we are grateful that we were able to give him a little over 3 years of a life that we tried to make beautiful. I know one of your volunteers was very attached to him. She often described him on FB in an attempt to get him adopted. That’s why I wanted to thank you for taking care of him before we did, for loving him before we did, for trying to find a new family for him, and for ultimately entrusting him to us. Thank you for everything.
Françoise.
Our little Zyra is doing great! She is really adorable with everyone, she plays a lot, always ready to follow us for a walk, she listens and is attentive, and above all, she is very cuddly. She is truly amazing! We play games searching for treats or her toys in the garden, and after just a month, she has found all the secret hiding spots that took my previous dog months to reach her level. She amazes me every day, and I am incredibly proud of her. Of course, she makes small mistakes, but nothing serious, especially at her age. She is determined to wage a bloody war with the toilet rolls, which, thanks to my son forgetting to close the door, come under her attack and do not end their lives very gloriously… I will keep sending you updates! Thank you for the work you do every day!

Izzy… This cat has been a true delight ever since I saw her sheltering in the corner of a basket in your cattery. Since September 2012, not a day has passed without cuddles. She’s there every morning behind the bedroom door. She’s already 15 years old, not quite at her best with her teeth, but her kindness full of gratitude still leaves me overjoyed. In the shelter, she was called Tom. She immediately took a liking to “Izzy”. The simple letter ‘I’ and she would come running for a cuddle. I whistle… and she appears right away. A life without Izzy? I can’t imagine it…

Theo is doing as well as always and gets along great with his big brother and sister from the Veeweyde-Tournai shelter. He has become very handsome since I adopted him because he was found and never claimed. Thank you for taking such good care of him and encouraging him in these difficult times.

Here are a few photos of Pépite, adopted from you on December 27th! His favorite activities are playing, sleeping, and cuddling! He’s really a joy to have at home, especially during this period of confinement. And he loves to pose for photos! A real little actor. Pépite’s little quirk: he has a few hiding spots where he likes to stash our chargers, belts, and socks. Luckily, we discovered his hiding places quickly.

Hello everyone,
Here’s some news about Donald and Gabisou. As soon as they arrived, they immediately acclimated. They started with a walk in the garden. Gabisou quickly found his spot, lay down in his corner, and Donald immediately began exploring the garden and the house. They are as quiet as a mouse and doing very well. They are darlings! When we go for walks, they are very well-behaved, but they are still very shy when we encounter other barking dogs, and they are also afraid of tractors… We mainly walk on small sandy paths. They no longer pull and stay close to us. Gabisou already understands “sit” and Donald is starting to understand it. Donald accepts treats, but Gabisou does not yet. Thanks to the entire team.

Here is our beautiful Bella. She is gorgeous and quickly settled into her new home… Everything is going well. She is truly beautiful and already very attached to her home and family. She loves to roam freely, and it’s wonderful to see her happily playing with her friend, Onix…. At night, you don’t hear a peep from her; she sleeps soundly in her new bed. In short, she is super well-behaved and gets along great with our male dog. She loves going for walks and especially loves being petted. It’s an experience we absolutely do not regret.

Hello,
Here’s some news about Chips, formerly known as Whiskey, from kennel 308, whom I adopted from you in August 2019. He’s doing very well, has gained weight, and is very cuddly! He fills us with happiness! He’s very obedient and hardly ever misbehaves when he’s alone. He has learned a lot and has grown a lot; initially, he was defensive, but with a lot of love and patience, that’s now a thing of the past.

Hello,
Rabbits are animals that need companionship. It’s never easy, but Patate the rabbit has found her soulmate in Yuko – our white/black male rabbit. It’s good for them to have two rabbits at once, and we also have a lot of laughs watching them chase each other, groom each other, or chase after the cats. On the other hand, rabbits do chew… they are never safe from mischief!

Hello,
With patience and love, even the most temperamental animals eventually become a ball of love. Here are a few photos of Flocon in the snow. She forms a close couple with Pikachu. She makes us laugh a lot when she growls or stands on her hind legs to get attention… or to eat, you little gourmet 😉 !

Hello!
I’m Ana-Maria, the young lady who adopted Maya. I wanted to let you know how things are going after the adoption. Everything is going very well. We slowly got to know each other, and now we’re actually inseparable. We are very attached to each other. We have also moved to Evere in the meantime.

Hello!
Here’s some news about Tarzan. We are very happy with him. He is so adorable. We just know we made the right choice. He has made many friends here in the neighborhood. He also gets along well with my son’s four dogs and cats in the countryside! He is the dog we needed. He is a calm dog who loves cuddles. However, he doesn’t like to be left alone. He prefers to always be with us. He gets panicked, so we make sure he’s not alone. Thank you again.
Suzanne.
On August 8th, I adopted one of your puppies, a cross between a German and a Belgian Malinois Shepherd. This is Loka, and I wanted to send you some photos to show how big she has grown! Everything is going well at home. She is greatly spoiled here, by myself and my surroundings. Have a great day,
Audrey.
Hello,
Here’s some news about Trio! He has adjusted well to our family, he’s house-trained, and eats well! He plays in the garden, we play together, and I always try to work on eye contact. We also go for walks on the street. He wears a harness during walks. Trio walks nicely beside me without pulling. When we encounter other dogs, I show him his toy, and he becomes calm. I’m also going to contact a behavior therapist so that Trio can truly enjoy our outings. My veterinarian has already visited for a check-up. We’re scheduling another appointment to weigh him. This way, we’ll know the amount of dog food we can give him. I sincerely hope that he can continue to evolve like this. He behaves impeccably with adults and children! He’s a darling!

This is Charly. We adopted him on January 7, 2021, from Veeweyde Anderlecht. He was just 1 year old and small for his age at the time. Now he’s almost 3 years old and weighs 7 kg. He’s a wonderful and super sweet cat. He gives kisses to everyone who comes to our house, including the veterinarian. My daughter and I love Charly very much! He chose us, and we treat him like a king. We are very happy with him. He is unique. We are also very grateful to Veeweyde.

Here’s some news about our little Qwerty, whom we adopted from you a year and a half ago. He’s the king of our family! He brings us happiness and gives us lots of love. Qwerty brings joy into our home. What a handsome boy he is too. He fills our hearts with joy every day. Our little Qwerty will soon be 7 years old. He’s my own little miracle.

Hello,
My name is Eloïse, I’m nearly thirteen and I adopted my hamster from Veeweyde a little over a week ago.I’ve always dreamed of having a pet. At the center, he was called Idéfix, but I decided to rename him Haribo. As soon as I saw his little face, I immediately fell in love. We phoned to make an appointment for the long-awaited adoption. When we arrived to pick up Haribo, we were told where the rodent room was. Once home, we put him in his new large cage and he had fun exploring everything: the wheel, the tunnel, the little house, the floors and the litter box. He played in his new home and then dug his nest. Haribo is an adorable little ball of fur who’s easy to pet and very curious. I love to put surprises in his cage and he loves to use them (hamster games, a hammock, dried straws, hamster snacks, etc.) Now I can take him out and hold him in my hands for my greatest pleasure. Haribo seems very happy and so am I.
