The Shelter of Veeweyde-Tournai

The Shelter of Veeweyde-Tournai

It was in 1992 that Veeweyde took the Tournaisis Blue Cross kennel under its wing to make it the Veeweyde-Tournai Shelter. The place was then redeveloped based on the concept of animal freedom. The goal: to avoid bars as much as possible and allow the animals to frolic in semi-freedom! We were able to observe the effectiveness of this project: a fearful or unfriendly dog can, in semi-freedom, change its attitude and become confident. This initiative was, at the time, a first of its kind in Belgium.

This kennel is made up of 4 modules, each made up of a grass area of 500 to 600 m² in which groups of a maximum of 15 dogs can roam around at will, i.e. a total capacity of 60 dogs.

In each module, a courtyard gives direct access to the central 30 m² doghouse where dogs can take shelter at night or in bad weather. The green screen also has the mission of hiding the cats from the sight of the dogs, who also have a walk in the open air in a very large cattery.

Concerning the tax exemption certificates for donations, note that our association is approved as an institution whose purpose is the management of animal shelters for the years 2019 and 2020. This means that monetary donations received during this period provide a tax advantage to our donors.
